I've got my art supplies...

what do I do next?

I've got my art supplies...what do I do next? We get it, grad school didn't prepare us for the real world...the one where clients don't like to talk or do worksheets all the time! Introducing art into therapy sounds like a good idea, until you see your client completely dissolve under their fears and anxieties about producing "good art." The Got Art? Series will help alleviate those frustrations and get you on track for creating with your clients. This module focuses on the how to build in CCPT and directive skills into working with anxious, fearful and worried clients of all ages. Models of therapy, including CCPT, Adlerian and CBT will be interwoven into the workshop. Directive and non-directive approaches will be shared as well as ways to integrate into the playroom. This is an interactive video - please bring art supplies to create alongside the presenter!

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Define anxiety, worries and fears
  • Identify how anxiety, worries and fears shows up in children, tweens and teens
  • Incorporate at least three new art making techniques into play, sandtray or art therapy services
  • Understand the link between the use of incorporating art making in sandtray, play and other therapy services to help support anxious, worried and fearful clientele
  • Link art activities to treatment goals
