Back to School...Yikes!!
Back to school is an exciting a joyful time for most students... but often not for our anxious and worried children and teens. Many have had struggled through the ups and downs of virtual or in-person school. Or been over the moon to not have in-person school! Now with the start of school, therapists, play therapists, counselors and social workers need to plan ahead to minimize the impact of going back to school. This webinar will serve as a guide for therapists to infuse their practice with art, play and sandtray activities that will support anxious and worried children and teens. Therapists will be able to incorporate learned skills into their clinical approach and techniques into in person and online telehealth services. Ethical considerations, diversity and limitations will also be explored.
By the end of the video, participants will be able to:
- Describe at least two art, play and sandtray activities to incorporate into back to school readiness services.
- Identify at least three cultural considerations with play and art therapy techniques.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how anxiety and worries impact scholastic performance.
- Create a unique plan for back to school readiness
